“Echo” is a bilingual conceptual art book by Boyana Pavlova, based on the text of the same name by Ivan Dimitrov, created for the project “Street Ballads” by the artistic collective SOUNDSCAPE.LIVE.

In this edition, my typeface Alamia is used as part of the book’s visual language — in a context where typography does not simply follow the text, but actively participates in its construction. Through expressive compositional choices and a sensitive approach to form, Boyana Pavlova transforms the idea of “echo” into a visual experience — a space where words unfold, repeat, and refract.

The book also alludes to the mythological figure of Narcissus, creating a layered dialogue between text, image, and typography. The translation is by Ekaterina Petrova, and the edition is produced in a limited print run, part of which is signed and numbered by the authors.

For me, this is a particularly valuable example of font in use — when a typeface becomes part of the artistic gesture and contributes to the overall perception of the book as an object.
