In 2019, my typeface Kardinal was used in the limited-edition photographic publication “Photo Nook”, part of the publishing series by Gallery Synthesis. The series presents special author-led projects in small print runs and functions both as a book and as an object.
The second edition of “Photo Nook” is dedicated to the Greek photographer John Demos and includes a selection of black-and-white photographs from the project Pnoe Dendron (Breath) — a long-term visual exploration of trees as organic, almost human structures. The typography in the publication plays a consciously quiet role, supporting the photographic narrative and the texts without dominating the images.
For me, this participation is especially valuable as an example of typography within the context of an author-driven photographic book, where the typeface becomes part of the overall experience — material, visual, and conceptual.
